حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ، مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ: " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى الْحُمْرَةَ قَدْ ظَهَرَتْ فَكَرِهَهَا " " فَلَمَّا مَاتَ رَافِعُ بْنُ خَدِيجٍ، جَعَلُوا عَلَى سَرِيرِهِ، ، قَطِيفَةً حَمْرَاءَ، فَعَجِبَ النَّاسُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (ﷺ) saw the red color becoming predominant (being used excessively), he expressed dislike for it. The narrator says that when Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away, people placed a red sheet on his bier, which greatly surprised the public.
