حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ شَقِيقٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " حُوسِبَ رَجُلٌ مِمَّنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ فَلَمْ يُوجَدْ لَهُ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ شَيْءٌ، إِلَّا أَنَّهُ كَانَ رَجُلًا مُوسِرًا، وَكَانَ يُخَالِطُ النَّاسَ، فَكَانَ يَقُولُ (١) لِغِلْمَانِهِ، تَجَاوَزُوا عَنِ الْمُعْسِرِ ". قَالَ: " فَقَالَ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لِمَلَائِكَتِهِ: نَحْنُ أَحَقُّ بِذَلِكَ مِنْهُ، تَجَاوَزُوا عَنْهُ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man was presented before Allah for reckoning, but no good deed was found in his account. However, he was a wealthy man who used to trade with people. He had instructed his servants to give respite to those in difficulty. Upon this, Allah Almighty said: "We are more deserving of this than you. Angels! Pardon My servant as well." Thus, he was forgiven.
