حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ قَيْسَ بْنَ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ،، ، إِنَّ فُلَانًا يُطِيلُ بِنَا الصَّلَاةَ حَتَّى إِنِّي لَأَتَأَخَّرُ، فَغَضِبَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَضَبًا مَا رَأَيْتُهُ غَضِبَ فِي مَوْعِظَةٍ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنَّ فِيكُمْ مُنَفِّرِينَ، فَمَنْ أَمَّ قَوْمًا فَلْيُخَفِّفْ بِهِمُ الصَّلَاةَ، فَإِنَّ وَرَاءَهُ الْكَبِيرَ وَالْمَرِيضَ وَذَا الْحَاجَةِ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! I think that because of so-and-so (the imam), I will miss the Fajr prayer out of fear of him. The narrator says: I have never seen the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) more angry during a sermon than on that day. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: O people! Some of you make others dislike (the prayer). Whoever among you leads the people in prayer should make it light, for among the worshippers are the weak, the elderly, and those with needs.
