حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ،، ، عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، وَاللهِ إِنِّي لَأَتَأَخَّرُ فِي صَلَاةِ الْغَدَاةِ مَخَافَةَ فُلَانٍ - يَعْنِي إِمَامَهُمْ -. قَالَ: فَمَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَشَدَّ غَضَبًا فِي مَوْعِظَةٍ مِنْهُ يَوْمَئِذٍ، فَقَالَ: " أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ مِنْكُمْ مُنَفِّرِينَ فَأَيُّكُمْ مَا صَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ فَلْيُخَفِّفْ، فَإِنَّ فِيهِمُ الضَّعِيفَ وَالْكَبِيرَ وَذَا الْحَاجَةِ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the service of the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! I think that so-and-so (the imam) makes me miss the Fajr prayer because of fear of him." The narrator says: I have never seen the Prophet (ﷺ) more angry during a sermon than on that day. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "People! Some of you make others dislike (the prayer). Whoever among you leads the people in prayer should make it light, for among the worshippers are the weak, the elderly, and those with needs."
