حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ الْمُسَيِّبِ، قَالَ: قَدِمَ مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، الْمَدِينَةَ، وَكَانَتْ آخِرَ قَدْمَةٍ قَدِمَهَا، فَأَخْرَجَ كُبَّةً مِنْ شَعَرٍ، فَقَالَ: مَا كُنْتُ أَرَى أَنَّ أَحَدًا يَصْنَعُ هَذَا غَيْرَ الْيَهُودِ، وَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " سَمَّاهُ الزُّورَ " قَالَ: كَأَنَّهُ يَعْنِي الْوِصَالَ (١)،
Translation
English translation
Saeed bin Musayyib (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once, in Madinah Munawwarah, Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) came and delivered a sermon to us, in which he took out a lock of hair and showed it, and said: I think that only the Jews do this. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to know of this, he called it "falsehood."
