قَالَ: وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " النَّاسُ تَبَعٌ لِقُرَيْشٍ فِي هَذَا الْأَمْرِ، خِيَارُهُمْ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ خِيَارُهُمْ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ إِذَا فَقِهُوا، وَاللهِ لَوْلَا أَنْ تَبْطَرَ قُرَيْشٌ لَأَخْبَرْتُهَا مَا (٢) لِخِيَارِهَا عِنْدَ اللهِ عَزَّ، ، وَجَلَّ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
And the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "In this matter (of leadership), people follow the Quraysh. In the time of ignorance, those among them who were the best are also the best in the time of Islam, provided they attain understanding (of religion). By Allah! If the Quraysh were not prone to pride, I would have informed them of the status of their best people in the sight of Allah."
