حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرِ (١) بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ حَزْمٍ، سَمِعَ عَبَّادَ بْنَ تَمِيمٍ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ، " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَرَجَ إِلَى (٢) الْمُصَلَّى يَسْتَسْقِي، (٣) فَاسْتَقْبَلَ الْقِبْلَةَ وَقَلَبَ رِدَاءَهُ، وَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ "، (٤) قَالَ سُفْيَانُ: قَلْبُ الرِّدَاءِ جَعْلُ الْيَمِينِ الشِّمَالَ وَالشِّمَالِ الْيَمِينَ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abdullah bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went out to pray Salat al-Istisqa (prayer for rain). On that occasion, he turned his cloak while facing the Qiblah and led two rak‘ahs with loud recitation.
