حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي شُرَيْحٍ الْخُزَاعِيِّ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " الضِّيَافَةُ ثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ، وَجَائِزَتُهُ يَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ، وَلَا يَحِلُّ لِلرَّجُلِ أَنْ يُقِيمَ عِنْدَ أَحَدٍ حَتَّى يُؤْثِمَهُ "، قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، فَكَيْفَ (١) يُؤْثِمُهُ؟ قَالَ: " يُقِيمُ عِنْدَهُ وَلَيْسَ لَهُ شَيْءٌ يَقْرِيهِ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Shurayh that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: Hospitality is for three days, and the right (of special hospitality) is only for one day and one night. And it is not permissible for any man to stay with someone so long that he makes him sinful. The people asked: O Messenger of Allah! How will he make him sinful? He said: He stays with him while he has nothing left for hospitality.
