حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ، وَإِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، عَنْ أَبِي وَجْزَةَ السَّعْدِيِّ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ مُزَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُتِيَ بِطَعَامٍ فَقَالَ: " يَا عُمَرُ ـ قَالَ هِشَامٌ ـ: يَا بُنَيَّ، سَمِّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، وَكُلْ بِيَمِينِكَ، وَكُلْ مِمَّا يَلِيكَ "، قَالَ: فَمَا زَالَتْ إِكْلَتِي بَعْدُ (١) (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Umar bin Abi Salamah that once food was brought to the Prophet (peace be upon him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to me, "Umar, mention the name of Allah, eat with your right hand, and eat from what is in front of you." After that, this always remained my practice at the time of eating.
