حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي زِيَادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعْدٍ، أَنَّ أَبَا الزِّنَادِ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي حَنْظَلَةُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ حَمْزَةَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْأَسْلَمِيِّ، صَاحِبِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَدَّثَهُ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَهُ وَرَهْطًا مَعَهُ، إِلَى رَجُلٍ مِنْ عُذْرَةَ، فَقَالَ: " إِنْ قَدَرْتُمْ عَلَى فُلَانٍ، فَأَحْرِقُوهُ بِالنَّارِ "، فَانْطَلَقُوا حَتَّى إِذَا تَوَارَوْا مِنْهُ نَادَاهُمْ - أَوْ أَرْسَلَ فِي أَثَرِهِمْ - فَرَدُّوهُمْ ثُمَّ قَالَ: " إِنْ أَنْتُمْ قَدَرْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ فَاقْتُلُوهُ، وَلَا تُحْرِقُوهُ بِالنَّارِ، فَإِنَّمَا يُعَذِّبُ بِالنَّارِ رَبُّ النَّارِ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Hamzah Aslami that once the Prophet (ﷺ) appointed him as the leader of a detachment. When I was about to depart, the Prophet (ﷺ) said: If you succeed in capturing such-and-such person, then burn him in the fire. When I turned my back, the Prophet (ﷺ) called me and said: If you find him, then only kill him (do not burn him in the fire), because only the Lord of the Fire can punish with fire.
