[قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ] ، حَدَّثَنِي سُرَيْجُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ عِبَادٍ، قَالَ: " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَدْعُو النَّاسَ إِلَى الْإِسْلَامِ بِذِي الْمَجَازِ " وَخَلْفَهُ رَجُلٌ أَحْوَلُ، يَقُولُ: لَا يَغْلِبَنَّكُمْ هَذَا؟ عَنْ دِينِكُمْ وَدِينِ آبَائِكُمْ، قُلْتُ لِأَبِي وَأَنَا غُلَامٌ: مَنْ هَذَا الْأَحْوَلُ، الَّذِي يَمْشِي خَلْفَهُ؟ قَالَ: هَذَا عَمُّهُ أَبُو لَهَبٍ، قَالَ عَبَّادٌ: أَظُنُّ بَيْنَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، وَبَيْنَ رَبِيعَةَ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ الْمُنْكَدِرِ (١)، •
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Rabi’ah that I saw the Prophet (ﷺ) presenting his message to the people in the market called Dhu’l-Majaz. Behind the Prophet (ﷺ) there was a squint-eyed man who was saying, “Do not let this man turn you away from the religion of your gods.” I asked the people, “Who is this squint-eyed man behind him?” The people replied, “He is the Prophet’s (ﷺ) uncle, Abu Lahab.”
