حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ وَاثِلَةَ بْنَ الْأَسْقَعِ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " إِنَّ أَعْظَمَ الْفِرَى ثَلَاثَةٌ: أَنْ يَفْتَرِيَ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى عَيْنَيْهِ، يَقُولُ: رَأَيْتُ وَلَمْ يَرَ، وَأَنْ يَفْتَرِيَ عَلَى وَالِدَيْهِ، فَيَدَّعِي إِلَى غَيْرِ أَبِيهِ، أَوْ يَقُولُ: سَمِعَنِي وَلَمْ يَسْمَعْ مِنِّي " (١)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Wathilah that I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say: The greatest slanders are three: First, that a man slanders with his eyes and says, "I saw such and such," while he did not see it. Second, that a man slanders his parents and attributes himself to someone other than his father. And third, that a person says he heard something from me, while he did not hear it from me.
