Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Sahl bin Hunaif that once we passed by a stream of water in a certain area. I began to bathe in it, and when I came out, I had developed a fever. When the Prophet (ﷺ) found out, he said: Tell Abu Thabit to recite the words of seeking refuge and blow over himself. I said: O Messenger of Allah, can incantations (ruqyah) also be done? He said: Incantations are only permissible in the case of the evil eye, snake bite, or scorpion sting.
