Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Aswad bin Sari’ that once I presented myself before the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: O Messenger of Allah! I have composed some verses in praise of my Lord and in your praise. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: Let me hear, what have you said in praise of your Lord? I began to recite the verses. Meanwhile, a wheat-colored man came and sought permission from the Prophet (ﷺ). The Prophet (ﷺ) stopped me in the middle. After talking for a short while, that man left. I started reciting the verses again. After a short while, the same man came again and sought permission to enter. The Prophet (ﷺ) again stopped me in the middle. That person did the same thing three times. I asked: O Messenger of Allah! Who is this for whom you make me fall silent? The Prophet (ﷺ) said: This is Umar bin Khattab. He is a person who does not like false things.
