حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ حَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِىٍّ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى رَجُلًا قَدْ ظُلِّلَ عَلَيْهِ، قَالَ: " لَيْسَ مِنَ الْبِرِّ أَنْ يَصُومَ فِي السَّفَرِ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (ﷺ) said that people had gathered around a man and were shading him. (Upon inquiry, people informed that he was fasting.) The Prophet (ﷺ) said: Fasting while traveling is not an act of righteousness.
