Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding the pledge of Aqabah that the Prophet (ﷺ) came to them in such a state that Abbas was holding his hand. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: I have taken the pledge and given the promise. I asked Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him): Did you pledge allegiance to the Prophet (ﷺ) for death on that day? He said: No, rather it was on the condition that we would not flee from the battlefield. I asked Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him): What happened on the occasion of the pledge of Ridwan? He said: I was holding the hand of Umar and pledged allegiance to the Prophet (ﷺ). I asked him: How many of you were there? He said: Fourteen hundred people. All except Jad bin Qais pledged allegiance to the Prophet (ﷺ); he had hidden under a camel. On that day, we sacrificed seventy camels, one camel for every seven men.
