حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْمَدَائِنِيُّ، أَخْبَرَنَا وَرْقَاءُ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ: وُثِئَتْ رِجْلُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَدَخَلْنَا عَلَيْهِ، فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْنَا - أَوْ وَجَدْنَاهُ - فِي حُجْرَتِهِ جَالِسًا بَيْنَ يَدَيْ غُرْفَةٍ، فَصَلَّى جَالِسًا، وَقُمْنَا خَلْفَهُ، فَصَلَّيْنَا فَلَمَّا قَضَى الصَّلَاةَ، قَالَ: " إِذَا صَلَّيْتُ جَالِسًا فَصَلُّوا جُلُوسًا، وَإِذَا صَلَّيْتُ قَائِمًا، فَصَلُّوا قِيَامًا، وَلَا تَقُومُوا كَمَا تَقُومُ فَارِسُ لِجَبَابِرَتِهَا، أَوْ لِمُلُوكِهَا " (٤)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (ﷺ) sprained his foot. We went to visit the Prophet (ﷺ) and found him praying there. We also joined him and prayed standing. After finishing the prayer, the Prophet (ﷺ) said: If I pray standing, then you should also pray standing, and if I pray sitting, then you should also pray sitting, and do not remain standing in the way the people of Persia do with their chiefs and elders.
