Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى، وَسُرَيْجٌ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ: " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ لُحُومِ الْحُمُرِ " قَالَ سُرَيْجٌ: " الْأَهْلِيَّةُ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ، وَأَذِنَ فِي لُحُومِ الْخَيْلِ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) forbade (the eating of) domesticated donkeys at the time of the Battle of Khaybar, and permitted the meat of horses.
