Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " خِيَارُ النَّاسِ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ، خِيَارُهُمْ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ إِذَا فَقِهُوا " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: The best among the people in the time of ignorance are the best in the time of Islam, provided they gain understanding of the religion.
