حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا سَلِيمُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ، أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مِينَاءَ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " مَثَلِي وَمَثَلُكُمْ (٣) كَمَثَلِ رَجُلٍ أَوْقَدَ نَارًا، فَجَعَلَ الْفَرَاشُ وَالْجَنَادِبُ يَقَعْنَ فِيهَا "، قَالَ: " وَهُوَ يَذُبُّهُنَّ عَنْهَا "، قَالَ: " وَأَنَا آخِذٌ بِحُجَزِكُمْ عَنِ النَّارِ، وَأَنْتُمْ تَفَلَّتُونَ مِنْ يَدِي " (٤)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: The example of me and the other prophets is like that of a man who kindles a fire, and moths and butterflies begin to fall into it, and he tries to keep them away from it. In the same way, I am holding you by your waist to save you from Hell, but you keep slipping from my hands.
