حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، قَالَ: وأَخْبَرَنِي جَابِرٌ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " لَيَتْرُكَنَّهَا أَهْلُهَا مُرْطِبَةً "، قَالَوا: فَمَنْ يَأْكُلُهَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ: " عَافِيَةُ الطَّيْرِ وَالسِّبَاعِ " (١)،

Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say: "A time will come when the inhabitants of Madinah will leave it, even though at that time Madinah will be in a very excellent condition." The Companions asked: "O Messenger of Allah! Then who will inhabit it?" The Prophet (ﷺ) replied: "Wild beasts and birds."
