Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ جَابِرًا عَنْ شَأْنِ ثَقِيفٍ إِذْ بَايَعَتْ؟ فَقَالَ: " اشْتَرَطَتْ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ لَا صَدَقَةَ عَلَيْهَا، وَلَا جِهَادَ " (٣)،
Translation
English translation
Abu al-Zubair says that I asked Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) how the tribe of Thaqif pledged allegiance. He replied that the mentioned tribe made it a condition with the Prophet (ﷺ) that there would be neither charity (obligatory alms) nor jihad upon them.
