حَدَّثَنَا شَاذَانُ أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ: لَمَّا أَرَادَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يُخَلِّفَ عَلِيًّا، قَالَ: قَالَ لَهُ عَلِيٌّ: مَا يَقُولُ النَّاسُ فِيَّ إِذَا خَلَّفْتَنِي؟ قَالَ: فَقَالَ: " أَمَا تَرْضَى أَنْ تَكُونَ مِنِّي بِمَنْزِلَةِ هَارُونَ مِنْ مُوسَى؟ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ لَيْسَ بَعْدِي نَبِيٌّ " أَوْ " لَا يَكُونُ بَعْدِي نَبِيٌّ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (ﷺ) intended to leave Ali behind, he said, "If you leave me behind and go, what will people say about me?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Are you not pleased that your relation to me is like that of Harun to Musa? However, there will be no prophet after me."
