Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say: If I remain alive, then insha’Allah I will strictly forbid people from naming (their children) Barakah, Yasaar, and Nafi’. Now I do not remember whether the Prophet (ﷺ) also mentioned the name Rafi’ or not. And the reason he stated was that someone asks another, “Is Barakah (blessing) here?” and he replies, “No.” Someone asks, “Is Yasaar (ease) here?” and he replies, “No.” But before this, the Prophet (ﷺ) passed away. Then Umar intended to strictly prohibit this, but then he abandoned it.
