حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ: أُتِيَ بِأَبِي قُحَافَةَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ كَأَنَّ رَأْسَهُ ثَغَامَةٌ بَيْضَاءُ، فَقَالَ: " غَيِّرُوهُ، وَجَنِّبُوهُ السَّوَادَ " (٢)،

Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of the conquest of Makkah, Abu Quhafa (may Allah be pleased with him) was brought to the service of the Prophet (ﷺ), and at that time the hair of his head had become white like the "thaghama" herb. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: Change the color of his hair, but avoid black color.
