English translation
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) on a journey. When we reached Madinah Munawwarah, I said: O Messenger of Allah! I have recently gotten married, please allow me to go home early. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked me: Have you gotten married? I replied: Yes! He asked: To a virgin or to a previously married woman? I replied: To a previously married woman. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Why did you not marry a virgin, so that you could play with her and she could play with you? I replied: My father was martyred and I have the responsibility of my younger sisters, so I did not consider it appropriate to bring someone as inexperienced as them over them. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Do not return to your family at night without informing them.” The camel I was riding was extremely tired, because of which I was at the very back. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Jabir, what happened? I replied: My camel is tired. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) caught its tail and urged it on. After that, I went ahead of everyone. When we reached near Madinah Munawwarah, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked: “What happened to the camel?” I replied: Here it is. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Sell it to me. I replied: It is yours. This happened twice. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: I have bought it for one uqiyah of silver. Ride it, and when you reach Madinah, bring it to us. When I reached Madinah, I brought the camel to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Bilal! Weigh out one uqiyah and give it to him, and give one qirat extra. I thought that this one qirat which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave me extra, I will never separate from myself until I die. So I put it in a pouch and it always remained with me, until on the day of Harrah, the people of Shaam took it away.
