حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ بَابٍ، عَنْ حَجَّاجٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ،، أَنَّهُ قَالَ: دَخَلْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ لِي: " يَا جَابِرُ، لَوْ قَدْ جَاءَنَا مَالٌ لَحَثَيْتُ لَكَ، ثُمَّ حَثَيْتُ لَكَ "، قَالَ: فَقُبِضَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُنْجِزَ لِي تِلْكَ الْعِدَةَ، فَأَتَيْتُ أَبَا بَكْرٍ، فَحَدَّثْتُهُ، فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: وَنَحْنُ لَوْ قَدْ جَاءَنَا شَيْءٌ لَحَثَيْتُ لَكَ، ثُمَّ حَثَيْتُ لَكَ، ثُمَّ حَثَيْتُ لَكَ، قَالَ: فَأَتَاهُ مَالٌ، فَحَثَى لِي حَثْيَةً، ثُمَّ حَثْيَةً، ثُمَّ قَالَ: لَيْسَ عَلَيْكَ فِيهَا صَدَقَةٌ حَتَّى يَحُولَ عَلَيْهَا (١) الْحَوْلُ، قَالَ: فَوَزَنْتُهَا فَكَانَتْ أَلْفًا وَخَمْسَ مِائَةٍ (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was present in the court, the Prophet (ﷺ) said to me: If wealth comes from Bahrain, I will give you such and such and such and such. But before the spoils from Bahrain arrived, the Prophet (ﷺ) passed away. After the Prophet’s (ﷺ) passing, when the wealth from Bahrain arrived, I presented myself before Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: The Prophet (ﷺ) had said to me, if wealth comes from Bahrain, I will give you such and such and such and such. Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Take it. So I took the wealth from him. Then he said: Before a year passes, there is no zakat due on it for you. I counted them and they were fifteen hundred dirhams.
