English translation
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that after the fourth day of Dhul-Hijjah had passed, we set out from Madinah Munawwarah with the Prophet (ﷺ) in the state of Ihram for Hajj. The Prophet (ﷺ) instructed us to change our intention to Umrah. This made our hearts somewhat heavy and we felt uneasy about it. When the Prophet (ﷺ) came to know of this, he said: "O people! End your Ihram and become lawful (i.e., come out of Ihram). If I had not brought the sacrificial animal with me, I would have done what you are doing." So we did as he instructed, to the extent that we did with our wives whatever a non-Muhrim (one not in Ihram) can do, until when the evening or day of the eighth of Dhul-Hijjah came, we turned our backs to Makkah Mukarramah and set out reciting the Talbiyah for Hajj.
