حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ غَيْلَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمُفَضَّلُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عُقَيْلٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، أَنَّهُ حَدَّثَهُ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ: " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا ارْتَحَلَ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَزِيغَ الشَّمْسُ، أَخَّرَ الظُّهْرَ إِلَى وَقْتِ الْعَصْرِ، ثُمَّ يَنْزِلُ فَيَجْمَعُ بَيْنَهُمَا، وَإِذَا زَاغَتِ الشَّمْسُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَرْتَحِلَ، صَلَّى الظُّهْرَ ثُمَّ رَكِبَ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that if the Prophet (ﷺ) set out on a journey before the sun had passed its zenith, he would delay the Zuhr prayer until the time of Asr, then dismount and combine both prayers. And if the time of zenith occurred before setting out on the journey, the Prophet (ﷺ) would first perform the Zuhr prayer and then mount (his ride).
