حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ بِمِثْلِهِ،، ، قَالَ: " وَكَانَ قَتَادَةُ يَذْكُرُ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ إِذَا سُئِلَ عَنْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ: {لَا تَسْأَلُوا عَنْ أَشْيَاءَ إِنْ تُبْدَ لَكُمْ تَسُؤْكُمْ} [المائدة: ١٠١] " (١)،

Translation

English translation

Rawh narrated to us: Hisham ibn Abi Abdullah narrated to us from Qatadah, from Anas with similar wording. He said: And Qatadah used to mention this hadith when he was asked about this verse: "Do not ask about things which, if they are shown to you, will distress you." (Al-Ma'idah: 101)
