Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا ثَابِتٌ،، ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ الْعَضْبَاءَ كَانَتْ لَا تُسْبَقُ، فَجَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ عَلَى قَعُودٍ لَهُ، فَسَابَقَهَا فَسَبَقَهَا الْأَعْرَابِيُّ، (١) فَكَأَنَّ ذَلِكَ اشْتَدَّ عَلَى أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنَّ حَقًّا عَلَى اللهِ أَنْ لَا يَرْفَعَ شَيْئًا مِنْ هَذِهِ الدُّنْيَا إِلَّا وَضَعَهُ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) had a she-camel named "Adhba" which had never been left behind by anyone. Once, a Bedouin came on his camel and surpassed her. This was very hard on the Muslims. The Prophet (ﷺ) noticed the expressions on their faces. Then the people themselves said, "O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)! Adhba has been left behind." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "It is Allah's right that whatever He raises in this world, He also lowers it."
