حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي ثَابِتٌ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ: " مَرَّ بِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنَا أَلْعَبُ مَعَ الصِّبْيَانِ، فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْنَا، ثُمَّ دَعَانِي فَبَعَثَنِي إِلَى حَاجَةٍ لَهُ فَجِئْتُ، وَقَدْ أَبْطَأْتُ عَنْ أُمِّي، فَقَالَتْ: مَا حَبَسَكَ أَيْنَ كُنْتَ؟ فَقُلْتُ: بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى حَاجَةٍ، فَقَالَتْ: أَيْ بُنَيَّ وَمَا هِيَ؟ فَقُلْتُ: إِنَّهَا (١) سِرٌّ، قَالَتْ: لَا تُحَدِّثْ بِسِرِّ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَحَدًا "، ثُمَّ قَالَ: " وَاللهِ، يَا ثَابِتُ لَوْ كُنْتُ حَدَّثْتُ بِهِ أَحَدًا لَحَدَّثْتُكَ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was playing with some children, when the Prophet (ﷺ) came and greeted us with salam. Then he took my hand and sent me on an errand. When I returned home, Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her, my mother) asked, "Why were you so late?" I replied, "The Prophet (ﷺ) had sent me for some work." She asked, "What was the work?" I said, "It is a secret." She said, "Then safeguard the secret of the Prophet (ﷺ)." By Allah! O Thabit! If I were to tell it to anyone, I would have told you.
