حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلٌ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ الْيَهُودَ دَخَلُوا عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالُوا: السَّامُ عَلَيْكَ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " السَّامُ عَلَيْكُمْ "، فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ: السَّامُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَا إِخْوَانَ الْقِرَدَةِ وَالْخَنَازِيرِ، وَلَعْنَةُ اللهِ وَغَضَبُهُ، فَقَالَ: " يَا عَائِشَةُ، مَهْ "، فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَمَا سَمِعْتَ مَا قَالُوا؟ قَالَ: " أَوَمَا سَمِعْتِ مَا رَدَدْتُ عَلَيْهِمْ؟ يَا عَائِشَةُ، لَمْ يَدْخُلِ الرِّفْقُ فِي شَيْءٍ إِلَّا زَانَهُ، وَلَمْ يُنْزَعْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ إِلَّا شَانَهُ " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that some Jews once came to the service of the Prophet (ﷺ) and, while greeting, said "As-Saam Alaikum" (death be upon you). The Prophet (ﷺ) also replied, "As-Saam Alaikum." Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), hearing this phrase of the Jews from behind, said, "O brothers of apes and swine! Death (sam), and the curse and wrath of Allah be upon you." The Prophet (ﷺ) advised Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) to remain calm. She submitted, "O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)! Did you not hear what they said?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Aisha! Did you not hear what I replied to them? Gentleness, whenever it is present in something, adorns it, and whenever it is taken away from something, it makes it defective."
