حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي حُمَيْدٌ الطَّوِيلُ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ: " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا غَشِيَ قَرْيَةً بَيَاتًا لَمْ يُغِرْ حَتَّى يُصْبِحَ، فَإِنْ سَمِعَ تَأْذِينًا لِلصَّلَاةِ أَمْسَكَ، وَإِنْ لَمْ يَسْمَعْ تَأْذِينًا لِلصَّلَاةِ أَغَارَ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (ﷺ) intended to attack a people, he would not attack at night but would wait until morning. If he heard the sound of the call to prayer (adhan) from there, he would refrain; otherwise, he would attack.
