حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ، حَدَّثَنِي نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ دَاوُدَ، عَنْ نُعَيْمِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ: " كَانَ عَلَى الْكَعْبَةِ أَصْنَامٌ، فَذَهَبْتُ لِأَحْمِلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَيْهَا، فَلَمِ أَسْتَطِعْ فَحَمَلَنِي فَجَعَلْتُ أَقْطَعُهَا وَلَوْ شِئْتُ لَنِلْتُ السَّمَاءَ " (٢)، •
Translation
English translation
It was narrated that ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) said:
There were idols on top of the Ka`bah, and I wanted to lift up the Prophet (ﷺ) so he could reach them, but I could not do it. So he lifted me up, and I started smashing them, and if I had wanted to, I could have touched the sky.
