Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: Allah Almighty has promised me that He will admit four hundred thousand people from my Ummah into Paradise. Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted, "O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)! Increase this number." The Prophet (ﷺ) joined his palms together and said, "This many more will be added." Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) again submitted, "O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)! Increase this number." The Prophet (ﷺ) again joined his palms together and said, "This many more will be added." Upon this, Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Abu Bakr! That is enough." Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Umar! Step back. If Allah Almighty admits all of us into Paradise completely, there is no harm for you in it." Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "If Allah wills, He can admit all creation into Paradise in a single handful." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Umar speaks the truth."
