Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when Abdur Rahman bin Auf (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Madinah Munawwarah, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) established brotherhood between him and Sa’d bin Rabi’ (may Allah be pleased with him). Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “I will divide all my wealth into two parts, and I have two wives; I will divorce one of them, and when her waiting period is over, you may marry her.” Abdur Rahman (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, “May Allah bless your wealth and your family for you. Just show me the way to the market.” So he showed Abdur Rahman bin Auf (may Allah be pleased with him) the way. He went, and when he returned, he had some cheese and ghee which he had saved as profit. After some time, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saw Abdur Rahman bin Auf (may Allah be pleased with him) and there were yellow marks on him. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked, “What are these marks?” He replied, “I have married an Ansari woman.” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked, “How much dowry did you give?” He replied, “Gold equal to the weight of a date stone.” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Give a wedding feast, even if it is only with one goat.”
