حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ صُهَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَعْتَقَ صَفِيَّةَ وَتَزَوَّجَهَا " قَالَ: فَقَالَ لَهُ ثَابِتٌ: مَا أَصْدَقَهَا؟ قَالَ: " نَفْسَهَا أَعْتَقَهَا وَتَزَوَّجَهَا " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) freed Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) and then married her. The narrator asked Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), "O Abu Hamzah! How much was the dowry that the Prophet (ﷺ) gave her?" He replied that the Prophet (ﷺ) made her freedom itself her dowry and married her on that basis.
