Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ هَمَّامٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ خَيَّاطًا دَعَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى طَعَامٍ، فَأَتَاهُ بِطَعَامٍ وَقَدْ جَعَلَهُ بِإِهَالَةٍ سَنِخَةٍ وَقَرْعٍ. " فَرَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَتْبَعُ (١) الْقَرْعَ مِنْ الصَّحْفَةِ "، قَالَ أَنَسٌ: " فَمَا زِلْتُ يُعْجِبُنِي الْقَرْعُ مُنْذُ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُعْجِبُهُ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once a tailor invited the Prophet (ﷺ) to a meal. When he brought the food, it contained old oil and pumpkin. I saw that the Prophet (ﷺ) was searching for pumpkin in the bowl. From that time, I also began to like pumpkin.
