حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، وَحَجَّاجٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ: " صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ وَعُثْمَانَ، فَلَمْ أَسْمَعْ أَحَدًا مِنْهُمْ يَقْرَأُ: {بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ} [الفاتحة: ١] "، قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ: قَالَ شُعْبَةُ: قَالَ قَتَادَةُ: سَأَلْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ: بِأَيِّ شَيْءٍ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْتَفْتِحُ الْقِرَاءَةَ؟ فَقَالَ: " إِنَّكَ لَتَسْأَلُنِي عَنْ شَيْءٍ مَا سَأَلَنِي عَنْهُ أَحَدٌ " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that I have prayed with the Prophet (ﷺ) and with the three Caliphs, and I did not hear any one of them reciting "Bismillah" aloud. Qatadah (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I asked Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), "With what did the Prophet (ﷺ) begin the recitation?" He replied, "You have asked me about something regarding which no one has asked me before."
