Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: " لَا عَدْوَى، وَلَا طِيَرَةَ، وَيُعْجِبُنِي الْفَأْلُ "، قِيلَ وَمَا الْفَأْلُ؟ قَالَ: " كَلِمَةٌ طَيِّبَةٌ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet said: There is no reality in bad omens, however, I like optimism, that is, a good and pure word.
