Musnad Ahmad Hadith 12123

It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) once went to a garden of Banu Najjar in Madinah Munawwarah. There, a sound was heard from a grave. The Prophet (ﷺ) inquired about it and asked when the deceased had been buried in that grave. People replied, "O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)! This person was buried during the time of ignorance (Jahiliyyah)." The Prophet (ﷺ) was astonished at this and said, "If you people did not stop burying your dead, I would have prayed to Allah to make you hear the punishment of the grave."
