Musnad Ahmad Hadith 12023

It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the night when the Prophet (ﷺ) stayed at the house of Zainab bint Jahsh, the next morning I invited the Muslims to a wedding feast (walima) on behalf of the Prophet (ﷺ). The Prophet (ﷺ) fed the Muslims plenty of bread and meat, then as usual he returned and went to the houses of the pure wives and greeted them, and they prayed for the Prophet (ﷺ). When he reached home, he saw that two men were engaged in conversation in a corner of the house. The Prophet (ﷺ), seeing them, turned back and left. When those two saw the Prophet (ﷺ) turning back from his house, they quickly stood up and left. Now I do not remember whether I informed the Prophet (ﷺ) of their departure or someone else did. In any case, the Prophet (ﷺ) returned home and hung a curtain between me and himself, and the verse of hijab was revealed.
