حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُصَلِّي ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ فِي حُجْرَتِهِ، فَجَاءَ أُنَاسٌ فَصَلَّوْا بِصَلَاتِهِ، فَخَفَّفَ فَدَخَلَ الْبَيْتَ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَعَادَ مِرَارًا كُلَّ ذَلِكَ يُصَلِّي، فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ، قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، صَلَّيْتَ وَنَحْنُ نُحِبُّ أَنْ تَمُدَّ فِي صَلَاتِكَ قَالَ: " قَدْ عَلِمْتُ بِمَكَانِكُمْ، وَعَمْدًا فَعَلْتُ ذَلِكَ " (١)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) was once praying at night in his chamber, some people came and joined the Prophet (ﷺ) in prayer. The Prophet (ﷺ) shortened the prayer and went to his house. This happened several times until morning came. Then the people said, "O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)! You were praying, we wished that you would have prolonged it." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "I was aware of your presence, but I deliberately did so."
