Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَتَتَّبِعُنَّ، ، سُنَنَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ شِبْرًا بِشِبْرٍ، وَذِرَاعًا بِذِرَاعٍ، حَتَّى لَوْ دَخَلَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ جُحْرَ ضَبٍّ لَتَبِعْتُمُوهُمْ فِيهِ " (١) ، وَقَالَ مَرَّةً: " لَتَبِعْتُمُوهُ فِيهِ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: You will surely follow the ways of those before you, span by span and cubit by cubit, so much so that if they enter the hole of a lizard, you will also do the same.
