حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ: أَرْسَلَنِي أَهْلِي إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَسْأَلُهُ طَعَامًا، فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ، فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ: " مَنْ يَصْبِرْ يُصَبِّرْهُ اللهُ، وَمَنْ يَسْتَغْنِ (١) يُغْنِهِ اللهُ، وَمَنْ يَسْتَعفِفْ (٢) يُعِفَّهُ اللهُ، وَمَا رُزِقَ الْعَبْدُ رِزْقًا، أَوْسَعَ لَهُ مِنَ الصَّبْرِ " (٣)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that once my family told me to go and request help from the Prophet (ﷺ). So I presented myself before the Prophet (ﷺ), who at that time was delivering a sermon and was saying: Whoever practices patience, Allah grants him patience; and whoever seeks chastity, Allah grants him chastity; and whoever seeks sufficiency from Allah, Allah grants him sufficiency. And no one has been given a provision more vast than patience.
