حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا فِطْرٌ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ رَجَاءٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ،، ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنَّ مِنْكُمْ مَنْ يُقَاتِلُ عَلَى تَأْوِيلِهِ، كَمَا قَاتَلْتُ عَلَى تَنْزِيلِهِ " قَالَ: فَقَامَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ، وَعُمَرُ فَقَالَ: " لَا وَلَكِنَّهُ (١) خَاصِفُ النَّعْلِ "، وَعَلِيٌّ يَخْصِفُ نَعْلَهُ (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: Some of you will fight over the interpretation and explanation of the Qur'an just as I fought over its revelation. Upon this, Abu Bakr and Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) stood up, but the Prophet (ﷺ) said: No, it is the one who is mending the sandal. And at that time, Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was mending his sandal.
