حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ نَهَارٍ الْعَبْدِيِّ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَهُ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " إِنَّ اللهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى لَيَسْأَلُ الْعَبْدَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ حَتَّى يَقُولَ: مَا مَنَعَكَ إِذْ (١) رَأَيْتَ الْمُنْكَرَ تُنْكِرُهُ، فَإِذَا لَقَّى الله عَبْدًا حُجَّتَهُ قَالَ: يَا رَبِّ وَثِقْتُ بِكَ، وَفَرِقْتُ مِنَ النَّاسِ " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: On the Day of Resurrection, Allah Almighty will ask the servant, "When you saw a sinful act being committed, why did you not stop it?" Then the one to whom Allah grants an argument will say, "O Lord! I hoped for Your forgiveness but I was afraid of the people."
