Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) was very fond of a date palm twig and used to hold it in his hand. Once, the Prophet (ﷺ) entered the mosque and saw spit or nasal discharge on the qiblah side of the mosque. The Prophet (ﷺ) cleaned it with that stick. Then the Prophet (ﷺ), in a state of anger, turned towards the people and said: "Would any one of you like that a man should come and spit on his face from the front? When any one of you stands in prayer, he is before his Lord, and an angel is on his right side. Therefore, he should not spit in front of him or to his right, but should spit under his left foot or to his left side. And if it is very urgent, then he should do like this and rub it." The narrator demonstrated by spitting on his garment and rubbing it.
