حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمُتَوَكِّلِ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَرَزَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ غَرْزًا، ثُمَّ غَرَزَ إِلَى جَنْبِهِ آخَرَ، ثُمَّ غَرَزَ الثَّالِثَ فَأَبْعَدَهُ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: " هَلْ تَدْرُونَ مَا هَذَا؟ " قَالُوا: اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ، قَالَ: " هَذَا الْإِنْسَانُ، وَهَذَا أَجَلُهُ، وَهَذَا أَمَلُهُ يَتَعَاطَى الْأَمَلَ وَالْأَجَلُ، يَخْتَلِجُهُ دُونَ ذَلِكَ " (٣)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (ﷺ) planted a stick in front of him, a second one near it, and a third one farther away. Then he asked the companions (may Allah be pleased with them), "Do you know what this is?" They said, "Allah and His Messenger (ﷺ) know best!" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "This is man, and this is his death, and this is his hopes, which keep going beyond him to reach farther."
